The new Ford Explorer explores new corners of the midsize SUV class by upgrading power and fuel efficiency options. The base engine is a turbo 2.3-liter four-cylinder that can put out 300 horsepower easily. With multiple trims, the Ford Explorer overcomes many of the problems in the past and gets high marks in performance from critics, according to US News & World Report.

There are a few new trims, as well as the same engines that put out over 300 horsepower with turbocharged engines as well. The Platinum engine is the most powerful with a 400-horsepower engine. The EcoBoost options get more fuel-efficient with the latest models. These new eco-friendly models come with a 3.3-liter V6 engine.

The Explorer ST also puts out more horsepower if you want the ultimate SUV for the midsize class. You can check out the latest engine lineup with Ford at Helena Motors and take a test drive around the highways of Helena, MT.
